2010 Miss World contestants

17th October 2010
STOCKING UP ON ESSENTIALS

Cosmetics, toiletries and snacks were most popular items on the shopping list for the Miss World contestants when they called at Sanya’s Summer Mall.

The department store opened especially for the contestants to enjoy a private shopping experience, allowing them to browse the fashion, shoes and jewellery selections at their leisure. Some girls bought souvenirs for friends and family, but it was daily essentials that got the most attention.

With less than two weeks to go until the live televised final on Saturday 30 October, fresh supplies of cosmetics were also a necessary purchase for many.

Nigeria said: “It was nice to shop in such a big store when we are the only ones there. I could get used to this!” El Salvador added: “There were so many wonderful things: watches, jewellery and beautiful statues. But I managed to resist buying them.”

Back at the hotel, the contestants went into a full day of rehearsals with choreographers in preparation for the Miss World Final. As the rains are still drowning out any possibility of sitting by the pool, the girls were happy to learn their steps in the ballroom.
