As Daesung’s car accident continues to be investigated, the taxi driver that was rear-ended by the Big Bang star revealed that Daesung had in fact been driving at 60km/h. A police statement previously asserted that Daesung was driving at 80km/h, but YG Entertainment has spoken out and argued that there are many different factors to this incident, and that it should be regarded as a complex case.
On May 31st, a YG Entertainment representative stated,
“The taxi driver who was rear-ended by Daesung has said that Daesung had not been driving that fast; he said that he felt he had driven at about 60 km/h. Although Daesung was the one who told the authorities that he was driving at 80 km/h, this was said while he was in a state of great shock and confusion.”
The site of the accident is on a downhill slope – isn’t it normal for most drivers to not have their foot on the accelerator while driving downhill? Therefore, in order to find at what speed Daesung was driving at, there must be an on-site investigation.“
Previously, the Seoul Youngdeung-Po Police Department stated,
“Daesung violated the rules for safe driving by not being able to see in front of him while driving at 80 km/h. If Daesung had in fact been driving at 80 km/h (where the speed limit was 60 km/h), it would be considered to be a speed limit violation. However, because that figure was part of Daesung’s testimony, in order to find out exactly how fast he was going, more investigation needs to be done.“
Meanwhile, the police are examining the accident in great detail, combing through certain facts like how the motorcyclist was already bleeding before Daesung’s accident, leading to a theory of a possible prior hit-and-run. According to the police, Daesung seemed to have not seen the motorcyclist because he was scrambling to brake when he saw the stopped taxi in front of him.
It’s been revealed that Daesung hadn’t been driving under the influence and that the taxi driver did not sustain any major injuries. After the accident, Daesung and the taxi driver underwent five hours of investigation by the authorities before returning home.
At the police station, Daesung said, “There was one car behind the taxi in the first lane. When both cars suddenly moved to the second lane, I couldn’t avoid hitting the taxi that had returned to the first lane to stop.”
The police revealed, “We plan to find the cause of the motorcyclist’s death. In order to determine if the motorcyclist had died due to Daesung’s car, we had requested a detailed analysis from the National Institute of Scientific Investigation and have obtained the CCTV footage from the area. We plan to investigate this scientifically.
When the motorcycle was found, it found standing more than 10m away from the motorcyclist. Whether this was due to a hit-and-run or another previous accident will be investigated with the Highway Department.”
It appears that results of the motorcycle analysis will take up to 7-10 days.
Daesung has received much shock due to this accident. A YG representative revealed, ”After finishing the police investigation at 7AM, Daesung has returned to his dorm with his manager.”
YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk said, “We will continue to follow the results that the police investigations reveal regarding the accident. Currently, Daesung’s distress is not due to his mistake, but due to his sorrow for the motorcyclist who died due to an accident.”

Jay Park is confident that he can try for the American market in two years
Jay Park recently concluded his promotions for his solo album, “TAKE A DEEPER LOOK“, which earned him a lot of praise for its success. His title track, ‘Abandoned‘, scored first place two weeks in a row – a considerable achievement, especially since they were made immediately after his comeback.
Unfortunately, the singer didn’t seem all that satisfied, as he recently shared, “I certainly thought about how I didn’t have popular appeal. However, I thought that just this time, it was an opportunity to do what I wanted to do. I definitely wanted to show that the songs just have to be good, regardless of appeal. I wrote the lyrics for all seven songs and participated in the composition of six songs, in addition to overlooking the album artwork and the music video. I’m satisfied with the praise that I threw off my idol image and came back as a singer-songwriter.”
In his journey to return to Korea’s music scene, Jay Park picked up some new friends along the way. He revealed, “I hear that I suddenly changed. I’m confident that hip hop and R&B music is what I’ve always wanted to pursue. Ever since I was young, I listened to this kind of music, and it’s become a large part of my life. Of course, it was a big help that I had friends like Dok2 and The Quiett by my side. To an artist, meeting a good partner is vital to your music.”
He continued, “I met Ne-Yo and Musiq Soulchild. Meeting worldwide musicians obviously has meaning, but I don’t think it’s possible for us to do music together if I can’t befriend them. Honestly, I didn’t know much about Korean hip-hop. Before, I just knew Tiger JK, and that was it. Then I met my friends and became a fan of their music, and I wanted to work with them. Dok2 and The Quiett are friends like that.”
It’s obvious to any fan that Jay Park doesn’t take his music as a way of marketing himself. He takes little steps and works his way up, making sure that each step has a meaning and a place in the large canvas of his goals. “I only hope for one thing: I don’t have the mindset to buy a good car, a good house, or anything. I just hope that the people around me live well and are happy. It’s like having fun times with friends, not make my parents worry, and buying my younger brother games he wants to have, stuff like that. It’s stuff that I don’t have to have a major success for.”
In contrast to the hopes he has for his life, the aspirations he has for delving into the American market is clearly quite formidable and solid: he’s set the deadline for two years.
“Honestly, I’m confident,” says Jay. “I think the important thing isn’t the problem of working with some artist, reading the trend, and doing promotions. I think it’s sincerity. Even if I do music in America, I can make it feel sincere. I listened to pop music since I was young and I’m certain I know their kind of music well. I write my raps in English first, and I already have a manager in America. Language is obviously important too. It’s true that I need it to pass on my sincerity. Two years, I see it a long time. I think it’s sufficient.”
Concluding the interview, Jay Park said with a laugh, “As a composer and producer, I worked on U-KISS’s new album, and I’ll also hold a concert soon. I already have a lot of songs I’ve made; I think the production of my second mini-album will finish quickly as well. Honestly, I have schedules for the filming of the movie, and I feel discontented because there’s insufficient time for me to work on music. It’s a kind of relief to have my activities finished before the expected time.”

J.Y. Park reveals short teaser of 2PM’s new song
Earlier this week, J.Y. Park successfully completed his first fan meeting in 10 years. On May 31st, he shifted his attention to 2PM’s fans by releasing a short teaser for their new song.
J.Y. Park posted a video on his me2day saying,
“My second crazy act?!? I uploaded it at 2PM ^^ (I wonder why I posted it at 2PM?)”
In the video, J.Y. Park can be seen in the studio with Manny Marroquin as he guides his fans in the process of mixing, and also discusses Manny Marroquin’s favorite Asian artist.
We’ve translated his dialogue, so be sure to check out the video below!
“Hello, today’s crazy act is to briefly explain the mixing stage of music production.
After the instruments are recorded and all the singers finishing singing, these elements are all put into this mixing board to be combined. If we were to put it in the context of an orchestra, it would be like conducting. So if you see here, each column has one sound and we are adjusting the sound by using variants such as the EQ to make it into the sound I want.
Once we get the overall balance of all the sounds, we combine them to make a song…
There is a step after this called mastering, I will explain that next time. Now, my most beloved partner that I am mixing with, who won the Grammy for engineering last year, the world’s best engineer, Manny Marroquin! He has worked with me on miss A and 2PM’s albums and will be doing so again this time… Hope you enjoyed this video. Next time (if I get the chance) I will do a video on mastering.“

IU becomes a ping pong master for new ‘S-OIL’ CF
Earlier this month, we revealed a CF from Korean petroleum and refinery company, ‘S-OIL‘, which featured an appearance from IU.
Two weeks down the road, S-OIL released another CF with IU, and it’s actually pretty hilarious.
The CF sees IU competing against five boys in a ping pong grudge match, being outnumbered 1:5. After getting smashed in the first few rounds, IU whips out her ukelele and proceeds to smack the living daylights out of the five boys, reducing them to a broken force.
How that has anything to do with S-OIL, we really don’t know, but enjoy the CF anyway!
